For many years a team of specialists from Poznan in Poland has been recording (photographic and line drawings) the rock art in the desert adjacent to the oasis zone in the desert. Everything from prehistoric animals and signs down to Arabic and other language inscriptions left by passers by. There are hieroglyphics, Greek and Arabic inscriptions; hundreds of animals and hunting scenes, and body parts. One puzzle stands out – the giraffe is often depicted, but bones are never found in the mixture of animal bones found
