DEIR EL-HAGAR TEMPLE

The Egyptian Antiquities Service, in about 1990, approached the Dakhleh Oasis Project to repair and restore this sandstone temple situated at the far western end of the oasis.  It was dedicated to the Theban deities Amun, Mut and Khonsu , and was built and used in the reigns of Roman emperors  of the First Century A.D.  The temple had fallen into ruins and the Project restored it in three seasons with Egyptian participation.
