A discovery by Professor Kleindienst of a large basin in eastern Dakhleh, proved to have been the imprint of a meteor strike, which was datable to about 100,000 years ago.  The dating was provided by Old Stone Age artefacts in the feature.  The first impactologist the project has ever had, came to study it.  NASA scientists were on site to assess the crater.
